Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi were the heroes of the day as they scored a goal each at the Olimpico Stadium and the goals made them and the rest of the Barcelona players, the 2008/2009 Champions League winners. This win makes Barcelona the first ever Spanish team to reach a "treble" (3 champions titles) in a season. Throughout the game, Barcelona dictated or even controlled the game and played a consistent offensive tactic. The Manchester United defenders could not cope with the likes of Messi, Xavi, and Eto'o. Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola explained that the key to his team's success was courage. He also added that: "We did not want to be coward...Be more dangerous..."
